On rowers home ground.....

Was a spectator there twice during the Olympics - rowing and canoeing. I can't imagine doing that distance flat out under my own power. But do remember that four test tubes of champagne was £28...

What is that green thing you are holding in the video?

Its not me in the vid, but one of our members, I was on the rib at the beginning.

The green thing is an "OtterBox" cover for the iphone which is running GPS software.

It has to be said the bacon rolls were horrendously expensive plus they charged £10 to park a car and £15 for a minibus!!

yey - speed!!

I must have another cobweb blowing session soon, getting withdrawal symptoms already.

What speed did the GPS register?

My rough estimate is that Dorney lake is 2.2km long.

Lets say they only covered 2kms. The video timing seems to show that it took 1 minute 30 seconds

Which by my calculation is an average of 50mph.

having hit 44.3 mph in my sportsboat the other week that looks about right when comparing the videos

It's a 50hp Tohatsu (but its the same engine for a merc/mariner/yamaha).

They reported 46mph on the iPhone but not sure how accurate that is.
