No. It's not his boat. It's a creative listing to try and generate traffic (in traffic I mean people viewing the listing not cars and buses).
As shown here, the listing gets shared fast and becomes viral because it is different and entertaining.

But why? What do people gain from this? Can understand if its Youtube video's and the phenomena of getting as many viewings a s poss (so they get paid) but what advantage on Ebay?

BTW it's nothing to do with me, I generally buy green, lurex type Tutu's, cerise is just so yesterday!!

And yes bav 34 i'm all 3 of the above!! As you know ;)

There's been a few of these type of eBay adverts, Some have made it into the news papers. eBays rules don't like this type of game play and most of them get removed, but they don't seem to be as harsh when some of the money goes to charity.

I guess the buyer gains from increased views. I'm not sure what the average bid:view ratio is? At a guess it's 1bids:100views. More views = more bids. Although I can't imagine this going for much!

Just another self indulgent, egotistical, mindless cyber-tw*t with too much time on his hands......

hey folks, yep, im the fella who's currently selling the 'luckiest boat in the world' on ebay...

figured i'd register on here just, well, to put my views across and dispell some myths......
yes, its a REAL boat.
yes, the story IS true.
and no, im not "Just another self indulgent, egotistical, mindless cyber-tw*t with too much time on his hands", just simply a nice, friendly guy selling an old boat with the very best of intentions - hence half going to charity...

sadly people are far too quick to judge anyone who does anything out of the norm, sure i could've just listed it as 'old boat, needs work.' but where would the fun be in that? and what interest/bids would that generate for HELP FOR HEROES?

i listed it as i did for several reasons, it was a mad thing that happened to me, and just like every other story thats ever been told, i figured it was worth sharing, secondly, people are far too serious, and most have forgotten how to smile, so i thought it might help some of the grumpier along, and lastly, i hate war, especially when its not our war to fight, BUT, if our soldiers are out there giving their lives to keep us safe, the least i can do is donate something to help them with the money coming from whats otherwise a future tip run...

so to everyone who chuckled when reading my story? thankyou, sincerely.

and to everyone else who says im a liar, a fame hunter, an idiot, a timewaster, and lets not forget the 'Just another self indulgent, egotistical, mindless cyber-tw*t with too much time on his hands',
thanks for judging someone you've never met, have never shaken hands with, and know nothing about, and all because i shared a fond memory whilst trying to help a VERY worthwhile charity.

you've just about crushed my faith in human beings.

matt :(
