Anyone use a dedicated monitor screen for on-board cameras? If so, can you switch cameras by selection on the screen itself, or do you have a separate switch box?
The solution I have does this but it a tad expensive.
Its the Raymarine G Series display.
There are no less than 8 buttons along the bottom of the screen.
Each of these can be set to a separate input.
In reality, I think they can only handle 4 camera inputs though.
Here's the basic display with a single camera input
They also incorporate a PIP (picture in picture) facility
This pic shows a normal nav display with a camera input as a PIP
You can also resize the PIPs so that the parent image can be the same size as the child PIP image
As in this pic
I havent got any pics showing two camera inputs but my system can display both the starboard and the port cameras in this way - on a single screen.
My system thakes this concept a bit further.
I have also fed a PC output into the system.
Here's a pic showing the PCs output running Memory-Map nav software.
All this is on top of the standard Raymaring G Series feeds
Oh yea - and for a bit of fun - I also fed the Sat TV into the system
A small point, Raymarine provide an AV module that will "pipe" video signals through the SeatalkNG system but you then loose that simple "push a button on the display" to get the input you want. It was more wireing to run the extra feeds to each of the 4 displays but the end result much easier to use.
Probably all a bit too much for the average installation and doesnt easily answer your question but I've had a lot of fun building and installing the systems.
I love looking at pics of your installation. Fantastic Hurricane.
I can bet there is no other boat with a setup like yours!
If i ever were to win the lottery and order my dream Absolute, you'll be the second person on here to get a PM!
