I don't care! I'll display my naivety. I know I have only been reading this forum for about a year and have worked out SWMBO & IMHO etc, but what on earth is "olewill" please?
Olewill
He's a picture of contentment as he ponders his life
remembering the good times with his wonderful wife,
the summers on the river- the races to be won
the wind on his face, the scorch of the sun
He grins as he recalls the scares and near misses
Which drew from competitors great growns and loud hisses
these were all such good times it's hard to forget

Part of a poem by a lovely lady for my 50th birthday. Accompanied by a old seadog look a like doll sitting on a lifering. Well its coming up soon no 60 and yes lots more disasters in sailing. if it comes to disasters I am well experienced. Well not real disasters mostly breaking masts and so forth.
Thank you all for the kind words not really deserved. I get a lot of pleasure out of waffling on. This forum has been good to us with one visit to a forumite on sailing the Norfolk Broads and another visiting us here at Fremantle.
I do like to think I can suggest an apporach to a problem which doesn't cost money.......And of course for an old retired git it's the most fun I get.
Anyway had a lovely sail yesterday on a friends' boat. I hope through the winter to saili on all my competitors boats. Sadly they think I can help them. I managed a jib sheet overide on the finish line. I also suggested a different way of retrieving the spinnacker only to have the spin halyard caught on a mainsail batten. Still it was a nice sail with uncharacteristicly (for mid winter) 20 knot winds and a little rain. It was great to see 5 boats in a row in the moorings at the club all going for a race. a total of about 20 boats. We race every fortnight in winter however I take Howzat home for a break.
