Left Rochester at around 7am on friday morning in order to get off berth due to tide and after realising we was going far to fast @ nearly 5 knots, called into Stangate Creek and had a fry up in order to lose a couple of hours.Aim was to arrive outside the dock at approx first lock in order to avoid waiting outside in F12 type waves caused by trip boats.Gorgeous day with flat dead calm sea or F6/7 depending on which scale(Beaufort or Brendan) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.Passing Canvey we spotted a pair of dolphins followed about an hour later by a very small baby one.Thames barrier as usual indicates nearly there and The Dome hoves into view.No waiting outside lock seems possible with only us and big raggie waiting on bouy. Then just as lock opens vast gang of monster 50 ft sea going craft appear after really scary and gruelling run down from Penton Hook and start fighting over who is going to go in first.Lock master repeatedly tells tiny little, desperate to get inside,V42 to wait... again.. and finally couple of Brooms get to go in first. When in lock start speaking to owner of Broom, only to be told in no uncertain terms that his not a B.......m.but an ATLANTIC. Sir!
Once we are safely inside dip tanks and wander off to find ChristianR and his carefully hidden stocks of vino. His B....m is rather classy with very tasty leather seating but after repeatedly plying us with drink realises I am a lost cause when I keep repeating P35 at annoying intervals. My Boot
Visit to the Tate Brian on Sat. to see the Turner thing, was most enjoyable but just to many peeps crammed in for ideal viewing follwed by visit to fav. restuarant(El Bordello in Wapping High St.Sunday found us in the British Mus.having a butchers at the Egyptian stuff before wandering back to..........El Bordello again.Lock out on Sunday at 9.30 after Penton Hookers have all cleared off.Nice slow run round at around 6/8 knots WOT and Under M25 .Total fuel burn 35 gallons works out at about 2.5 GPH @ whatever and the cost of 3 nites at Kats came to 80.00 quid with electricity.
Thanks again Christian and Lucy for your hospitality.

Rather taken with some glass goblets with Fairline engraved on side.

So have obtained my own personal set of custom made drinking containers, mongrammed with a logo which announces to the world my elevated status in the boating fraternity and will be adding to them as soon as my local petrol station gets some more stock.Crafted in finest polycarbonate they will be admired and envied by all.

You are most welcome, we enjoyed meeting our first forum members!

I have only ever heard of Raggies taking two tides to get up the Thames, you sure you haven't got a mast and sail hidden away on that boat of yours?

Ramsgate this weekend if anybody else is planning to be there?
