Just spend a week on the Thames and been forcefully made aware by the grandkids we really really need a separate cabin for the little blighters.
It will almost certainly be a Princess 35 of some flavour.
Most of them seem to have the 200HP engines.Anybody who cruises with me knows that at over 6-7 knots I get very lightheaded and worry about the boat taking off or similar.
Will the 165 HP version give me the 15 knots or so I need to outpace the ducks on the river . ?

You don't have to use the engines at WOT,anyway I would have though cruising on the Medway with extra power would be useful.
Princess 35 are a heavy boat.I would rather have a 200 hp at half throttle than a 165 at wide open throttle.

We have our two grandsons 8 & 10 for the week end.Its great to have a second cabin for them and there junk.

The one thing I hate on them was the orange bath room.Have a look at Sealine 360 f36 f37.I am biased of course. One of the many features that swung it for us was the stairs, very handy in bumpy sea or as you get older,If ever you fancy one contact me there are certain things you need to know about them.

Hi,
I had a 16 year old Birchwood 37 with the Volvo 165s. Lightly loaded she would do 20 knots! And that's on a semi displacement hull. But I have to say if I had to choose I would have the 200hp Engines. Same speed lower revs so less fuel consumed IMHO anyway.
we met a few years back in Chatham marina when I had the Birchwood, you may remember? Anyway I've just bought a Princess 435. Have you looked at them? Great boat loads of space and prices are very competitive because they are ageing a bit but built so well it doesn't matter!

I'm just selling my P415 which is similar to the 435 although I do like the aft cabin on the P435. If you have the tamd71b's I have loads of info on them to keep them in top top performance! The ageing Princesses are good value. Well built and solid. I'm only changing to have one with girlie buttons so me and the missus can handle her without the kids doing the ropes for us as they get older and lose interest in boating. You get a lot of boat for your money.

Course I remember.:)

Both the 435 and the 415 have been considered .
Unfortunately, there is a slight problem regarding the mooring master at my club,He has very good eyesight and if your berth is for a 36ft boat,he tends to be very unsympathetic when you try to crowbar in a 43 ft er.
Even at dead of night.

Other problem is mission creep in the engine dept and the 41 will still be a gas guzzler compared to my existing Perkins.
M135.:(
Have narrowed down to couple of P35s with 200HP ,double bed and mid cabin.

By chance I have just had a short run on a princess 35 (on Saturday). One engine was almost dead and the other was rather sick but still running. The boat had gone aground due to the engine problems and the crew was nor prepared to continue. A friend I helped the skipper by crewing the last and easiest hour or so of their trip to the marina where they were already booked in. A large repair bill is anticipated.
I didn't much like the ladder access to the flybridge on the P35. I prefer my recently purchased Sealine F33 which has stairs to the flybridge, an ample main cabin and adequate double mid cabin in a more compact boat. The F33 is not so old therefore more money than a P35.
Having said that I am guessing you don't want a boat with outdrives.

I hope your mooring master's eyesight is not too good, otherwise he might notice that your Princess 35 is in fact nearly 40ft. long including the bathing platform.

We are in the market for a P35 too, and after looking at 4 in the UK we have now found one that we like in Spain. Our offer has been accepted, deposit paid, survey done. We prefer a boat with a dinette rather than the second cabin, but we saw quite a respectable 2-cabin P35 in Plymouth, with 200hp diesels. Not sure if it is still on the market, he was asking just under £50K.

Fred, have you contacted Haydn (hlb) as he knows more than most about the P35. I think you'll find that the actual loa is nearer 40', you might want to check that out.

the smaller engine will be fine as long as you mate them with out-drives which as you know are far more efficient............

Have been desperately trying to find a P35 with a pair of "Black Anchors" installed, just to keep you happy,no luck so far.
Just have to get a couple of gallons of black paint to cover all that green in the engine room suppose :):):).

As for boat length,The boat is known as a Transocean 37ft in Australia excluding platform, but feel sure their feet are much smaller than ours.
So proposed new boat will probably fit.

I see you've found the Antipodean example OG, it had to come up sooner or later :)

"Cheap" Storebro 36 in S Denmark...@ £50K... sale due to illness... apparently good condition...

Superb boats. If she's all she's cracked up to be you couldn't go wrong in terms of original build quality. Also, the factory backup is superb. We had a wheelhouse window broken by some youths on a 30 year old Storebro and thought replacement would be a nightmare as it was curved (in two planes IIRC). As it turned out the factory were able to supply a replacement from stock. Things might be different now as they've been through different owners (became part of the group that owned Nimbus and more recently have been bought out again to be independent I think). Worth a look anyway if being in Denmark doesn't put you off...
