This isn't another quiz question, I am just curious /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The oldest I know of is "Playmate", ca 1895, an old gaffer that berths next to me in Portishead. It is a familiar sight in the Holms Race, and sails regularly

Anyone know of others?

An old friend of mine who is quite a character lives aboard "Pedorma" which was built in 1890 something as well and later converted to Bermudan Rig. She was a beamy centerplate boat reputedly having been used to import fruit from the continent originally. She was very fast and had a huge mainsail.

I havent heard from Reg for years so dont know if he is still in the BC.Anyone knows tell him I was asking .

Pilot Cutter OLGA was built by J Bowden of Porthleven in 1909 for durability and speed. She worked as a pilot cutter out of Barry between 1909 and 1917 ,she lives in Swansea Maritime Museum on the floating pontoon and comes out to play now and then.

Skippered in this pic by Tommy Nielsen the Boatbuilder based in Gloucester.

I took that pic about 10 years ago from the deck of the latest Bristol Pilot Cutter Robina Fisk which may be faster but probably wont make it to that age /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
