There's this wonderful 1982 vintage Doug Peterson/Jeremy Rogers ex racer in Lisbon wich the owner wants to sell.I considered buying the thing but good sense prevailed and I didn't.I already have a pretty good boat, thanks.
But it got me thinking that somebody might find it a very interesting project. It sails like a witch ,the build quality is second to none and the owner will sell it for a song. After all who wants a boat with not much more than a row of pipecots inside?Would there be a market for such a boat?
This is not an advert in disguise.I have no connection with the owner.I just feel sorry for the poor boat.

G'day Nuno,

It's sad to see these one time fantastic racing machines, still in good condition but just too heavy to compete with the modern lightweights.

We a few here in the Whitsundays, beautiful craft, reduced to carting back packers who seem to leave their names carved in everything.

Though some have been converted to cruising and look fantastic I fear the cost of upkeep will eventually overtake them.

As I said, sad.

Avagoodweekend......

A guy in our club bought a 1989 ex Admirals cup racer a Farr40 and I have sailed on it a bit. I just love the boat. Inside as you describe are 6 pipe berths a loo standing in the middle of the front area, a chart table on the engine box and a bit of a galley.
Maybe it is me but I rate performance more important than interior decoration. I am sure it could be made more comfortable fairly easily.
