No it wasn't. Harold Wilson's lot were propelling the country into the white-hot something or other and ran out of money while everything, including TSR2 was cancelled, and Czechoslovakia found out what happens if you miff your Communist masters.
1968 was the year that marked the end of the short period between the introduction of the miniskirt and the widespread use of tights; the year in which I narrowly avoided being arrested in Grosvenor Square; and when the admiral and I got married. End of an era.
It was also the year we took our No1 toddler on the Broads in a Gay Lady (no jokes please) and couldn't get him to sleep. We got hold of some Welldorm and doubled the dose each night until after three or four days of geometrical increase he behaved maniacally for ten minutes before collapsing unconscious, to our great relief. He is still alive.
