Just had look at the ARC website and saw that Nightlife, an old Sigma 41, won the racing division. She was bought for less that £50k and only had a small amount of titivating and now she has won the Arc. Very well done to Tom and his crew, a triumph for the 1980s.

Who said you must have a modern boat to go downwind!
 
The 41 was a good boat. Its a lot of boat for under £50k.

I raced on one in the mid 80s quite extensively. The owner drove her over a rock and busted up her stringers. The boat was repaired. She creaked like hell down below but I was convinced that she sailed even better after the repair job stiffened her up a bit more. Probably just my perception.
