Older and much older boats

Following on from the earlier thread, I'm considering acquiring a semi-antique motor yacht, 20-25m kind of size (displacement, natch). This will probably date from between 1925 and 1960. With limited budget and reasonable DIY & cabinet-making skills (to say nothing of a Naval Architecture degree) I hope to be able to bring the boat up to decent and seaworthy condition. Any experiences out there of similar projects?

I'd probably be looking to spend £100k max, for a steel boat, good designer (de Vries, etc) probably german, dutch or italian.

Cripes, Sputnik (why sputnik?) this seems something of a massive project. But a vaguley working clunky old tub erm I mean "True Little Ship" can be quite cheap, and anyone with 1997-1999 copies of MBY will see how many times that old heap in the Medina was advertised. Spray it white, lash on a speedy jet dinghy and do some nice cheapy chartering praps?

Sputnik: (product of the 50's, goes into orbit a lot)
Older boat: lots of space for your money and (arguably) more exclusive (read: unusual)...
