I have, what I believe to be, a 1970-73 Yamaha 5hp Aux outboard. It is marked 5AS/ 644 S .

Does anyone know what year this is and a good source of spares for Yamaha mail order parts for the older engine.

Thanks

Hi
Obviously the original post was quite some time ago, but I have the exact same outboard which has recently been given to me, it is in really good condition and has not run for many years. I have tried without success to locate somewhere i can purchase spare parts from to give it a good service, any information would really be appreciated.
Yamaha 5HP - (5AS - 644 - S 61805)

Cheers

I think your best bet for any parts you require will probably be Bill Higham Marine. I expect this is who Kawasaki meant! Outboard Spare Parts Archives - Bill Higham Marine

However the model is obsolete and many parts will be no longer available although I believe the engine was also rebadged as an early Mariner and that some Mariner spares may be suitable and available.
These parts lists and diagrams may be relevant https://www.marineengine.com/parts/mariner-outboard-parts/5a

Many thanks all, will have a look at the relevant information provided and hope i can get it up and running.

Many of similar sized O/bds in those days were based on Tohatsu or another brand ... with carbs and various interchangeable ....

Fuel related - worth comparing with Strimmer and other powered stuff ... surprising how many items are similar.
