Dear All,

I'm new to classic boat and have just bought an old wooden dinghy / sailing boat.

The guy from whom I bought the boat, knew little, in fact no history. I would really like to try and find out who built her, age, and her usage etc. The boat was purchased from Winterton On Sea near Gt Yarmouth and the previous owner says it is certainly pre-war.

I wonder if anyone can help with this?

I can post more photos.

Thanks for your time and assistance
Carl

If it was built by a regular builder to a design, there would almost certainly be a brass plate on the inside of the transom saying so, on a pre war boat.

Nice carvel dinghy, of the kind often built 'one off' when a yard was not busy, to no particular design, for use as a tender or family runabout. May also have been built to order as a tender to something larger. Unless there is some sort of identifying mark on it, the chances of finding anything out about her is pretty slender.

Unless someone here recognises it?

Mast? Sails?

It looks as if there should be sails, mast and rigging to go with it. There are U-bolt at the bow and mid-ships on the gunnels and what looks like either a centreboard or daggerboard casing.

I think you need to go digging for a bit more info!

Regards
Donald
