I have tow of these rev counters and have forgotten how to wire them up, they have four terminals, (+) (-) (24) (12). Anybody know how to wire them up on 24 volt system.
old VDO rev counters.

Do they connect to a mini gen or a tacho sense output on the alternator?

Ahoy Scotty!
You need power and ground to the instrument, then a wire from the alternator sense output, usually marked with a ~ symbol like a sine wave, to the same terminal on the back of the tacho also usually marked with a ~ like symbol.

dont have a sine symbol, just 12, 24, plus and minus.

In which case, I would connect plus and minus to a switched power supply and to ground.
I would connect the tacho output on the alternator to 12 or 24 accordingly.
(Don;t blame me if it goes up in smoke!)

Thats what I reckoned, be 24 for me, as I am 24v system.
