I'm in the process of restoring an old S&L Hyspeed 510 anchor winch. Bits are missing (operating spindle) and some u/s (the chains) and these I've got in hand. However, there are no pictures of the older style winch on the web, just the newer smooth and rounded model. Essentially they are the same, but there are differences; there seems to be a small unit referred to as a 'chain stripper' which sits under the gipsy and, I guess, directs the rope/chain off the gipsy and down through the chain pipe. Obviously the new model is different and fixes to the deck rather than the flange/base as on my winch. Does anyone either have a picture/drawing of this (sizes would be good!) so that I can make one, or even an old one, maybe now surplus to requirements, that I could borrow?
Also, how long should the handle be?
Any help would be appreciated.

The handle is about 3 feet long.I had one with white anodizing and it was the best anchor winch(bike chain and all) i ever had!Beat any electric winch and dident need cables battery and power

You can still buy them and the parts for them as "someone" bought the stock and make them again, very expensive. When i remember the name ill post again (Might be lofrans???)

I guessed about 3 feet - thanks. I've had fun remaking parts and restoring the rest and it certainly seems simple and effective.
I've found the chap who bought the SL spares etc. who now (unsurprisingly) runs a site called www.slspares.co.uk. The bits he has up to view are for the newer winch style and are, as you suggest, very expensive.
