Old propshaft flexible coupling

Hi, I have a 95 Vetus M4.14 with a Hurth gearbox and this old coupling, I am assuming its of the same age. The rubber bits have worn to the extent that there is some vibration over 2000rpm, I cant find anything like it anywhere and was wonder if anyone here has seen one or knows what make it is or where I might get a new flex plate?

What's the length of the compartment before the shaft dissapears and the distance from the end of the shaft to the flange?

Theres a few options but it would also be useful to know what the arrangement is aft of the bulkhead as this will effect the how stiff an arrangement you need.

My first hunch is a vetus bullflex with centering ring fitted as your looking like a fairly long run to your stern gland. Maybe a similar length.

The alternative being something like an R&D and split flange coupling which would be long enough (possibly too long) but also far less flexible than you have currently.

You may be able to allow for the length using a bobbin.

I have a r&d flexible coupling if it helps. bought it in error. still boxed brand new 1&1/4 shaft. asap part number 807101. r&d part number 910-001 for 4" coupling. could measure if needed.

I think that it might be a metalastic unit commonly used the Perkins last century

Yep. agree. needs a measurement of shaft and how much space to play with first.

I found it, its called a LAYRUB coupling and they are still made by a company up north. apparently popular on old dumper trucks and cement mixers
