I have a couple of old brass (heavy) portholes that came out of an old sailboat. They each have a 5 and an L on the left and right side of an anchor symbol etched or stamped into them. I would like to find out more information about these portholes or this marking which I am assuming is a manufacturer's mark.

The portholes were made by Simpson Lawrence (Scottish I think) they went out of business about seven years ago.

What do you want to know?

I have an old S-L catalogue from the early 1970s and there are 3 pages showing many types of portlights: fixed/opening; gunmetal/bronze/brass/galvanised steel; round/oval; with/without deadlights.

There is also a pricelist with it, e.g. 8-inch gunmetal opening port with deadlight at £47.95!

:D
