I have inherited a vintage (1983!) 6-man Plastimo liferaft. These are now unserviceable, so it's now been replaced by a new one and is therefore surplus to use.

I've been tempted to launch it on the lawn to make a paddling pool, and there are presumably some goodies inside (fishing line etc).

Anybody any ideas as to what to do with it? For example, could it be used for a survival course?

Any ideas would be welcome - you never know, it might even be worth something!

Reading between the lines I guess you really want rid of it. If so you could offer it to the nearest establishment running sea survival courses but at that age they might not accept it. The only other option is to take it to the dump.
The goodies you spoke of will probably include distress flares which should be taken out before dumping and disposed of in the approved manner.

there was a similar thread recently. the prize solution was to paint "RMS Titanic" on it and leave it inflated on a beach /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

We regularly run Sea Survival Courses and may be able to make use of the raft. More than happy to make a donation to the RNLI or yourself in return for the raft.

My number is 07803582286, have also pmd you

Take a look HERE, when this question was asked last month!

Incidentally, mine is going to be used in a club demo next week (sweepstake on whether it will actually work), followed by dispatch to my niece as a paddling pool/playhouse.

Hi Doug

Sounds good to me!

I'll give you a bell. Note we're in Norwich - but paying a visit to Brighton this weekend, if that's any good
