My daughter works for a small film production team that are making a short documentary for National Geographic. They are in need of a 19th century (style) old gaffer for one part of their filming.

I know very little more about this at the moment - other than they are Brighton based - and obviouly the closer the better.

By Old Gaffer I do not refer to the likes of Twister_Ken etc., - I refer to the genuine article - ie the floating ones (no more comments - as I might get into deep poo)

If any one has any ideas - Mirelle etc could they PM me.

Chris
Anyone here

It's Old Gaffers weekend at Yarmouth 4th -6th June, might be worth a day out, they will all be there in one spot!

No, Thalia, she normally moored on the Bosham side opposite the Chi Marine entrance.

Stephen - is she the white one with the off white sails? - I am expecting a phone call from the film guys tomorrow - I will then have a much clearer picture of what the whole theme is. I'll be in touch later

Did anyone see a TV programme a few weeks ago about the building of St Pauls cathedral ? They were discussing the shipping of 5 ton blocks of stone by sea, they had film of the presenter in a pretty little wooden gaffer to illustrate the point, unfortunately the boat was maybe 26' long and would certainly have sunk under just one 5 ton rock !

I remember when accuracy was important, now look and feel is all that counts.

Your absolutley right - I saw that as well! I should have a better picture of what they want to film later this week - and can then at least get them halfway there!
