I posted in Nov(?) about trying to find a long obsolete drive gear for my old autohelm 800.

two suggestions were to try a gear company to make one and to try the dealers to see if they had one laying around.

The first suggestion turned out to be too expensive at 100 quid for a metal one, not surprising I guess as it's a one off.

I emailed all the dealers in UK and Germany from the Raymarine website (>120!) and found some for 3 quid a throw! Others said they had old motors with the gear on too. (see original post for details)

Despite not being very hopeful at first, I now know it's always worth a try!

Can you send me the address of the guys who have the motor and cog. I have a st1000 and the cog is pressed onto the drive shaft this has worked loose. I superglued it back on after roughening it and it has held since but would like to carry a spare.

here are the three replies that might be useful:

Dyfedelectronics@aol.com

"Ref you request for a spare drive gear, I have a second-hand motor and gear from a 1000 which I believe is the same. I would not like to remove the gear as this can cause it to break
The cost of the motor + drive gear £15.00 +vat and delivery at cost

ROWLANDS MARINE ELECTRONICS LTD: rowl@i12.com

"Having searched our 'bits box' we have unearthed a new motor with gear on shaft
which appears to be the unit you require. Unfortunately we have long since lost
part numbers and can only therefore depend on physical aspects.
16 teeth with an Outside Dia of 11mm.
It would help mif you could provide any ID markings from the motor.
Price is £22.50 inc VAT plus postage.
Regards
David Brown"

"I will probably have one but it might be attached to a motor with a special sealant they use, if u send me the old motor I will replace with a new motor with cog attached and just charge u for the cog and keep yr motor.
Best Regards.
John Okey."
