Sea Ray 245 Sundancer. .........MerCruiser 5. 7L. (Can't get the cyrillic to display !)

So correction - it has a 5.7 litre Mercruiser ... asking price is £12K.

Re: Ok - what\'s reasonable price for :

Sounds like a not unreasonable asking price, get a survey for a proffessional opinion. Things like outdrive conditon, canopies, well looked after engine with new risers etc.. are worth paying a good price for, otherwise its worth 000's less.

Construction is not a problem as I own a Survey Company ! But unlike others we do not enter into valuation unless it's Insurance valuations for damage / claims etc. It's a dangerous market and why I asked on here for what people expect tp pay - different to what value it really is !

Engine is no problem - I have a 6ltr engine sitting doing nothing at moment (diesel ) so idea would be to convert from petrol. Engineers out here have given it thumbs UP possible.

I wouldn't do that if I was you, it will become virtualy unsellable. If your going to re-engine you really have to stick to recognised packages Volvo, Mercrusier, Yanmar etc... Unless your going to keep it a long time of course and don't really care about the resale.

Actualy see you are in Russia, so all UK commets fairly irelavent

No idea !

Presently its still fitted to the Truck we use to carry fuel additives around in. Trucks getting structurally harder to get through Technical inspection - but engine was rebuilt 2 year ago and is like new.

Re: Ok - what\'s reasonable price for :

Blimey, a 6ltr diesel is gonna weigh more than the boat!!!!

I swapped a 5.7 petrol with a 2.4ltr diesel. 8 cylinders down to 4. This was a good swap as the engines weighed around the same.

Assuming you go ahead with the swap, you'll need to think hard about the current out drive. The gearing may well be wrong for a slower revving diesel and the drive may not be up to the extra torque of an oil burner.

Also, if the engine is currently in a truck, you'll need to think about how to convert it with water cooled exhausts and heat exchangers etc etc.

BTW I think 12K is about right as an asking price.
