today - another forum member Graham Wright from Gloucestershire - nice to meet fellow enthusiasts, and hope his long time project for his boat build will complete this year.

At other times - Stood next to Rod Stewart and Rachel Hunter for a while, met and talked to Liza Minelli and crowning glory was to sit and talk to Jimi for a while at the last mercury meet! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Name dropping is really a no no.....................

but one person who really impressed me was Bill Clinton, he's extraordinarily, extraordinarily intelligent.

The person with most aura I've ever met was Oliver Reed. You could sense him behind you even if you hadn't seen him come into the room first. Trouble was, whenever I met him, he was inarticulate!!!

Mercury meet is not OK then? Which reminds me, should get the Mercury forum set up and start getting names. Will ask Kim this weekend

He was a larger than life person (he was also very large). He'd stride alongside with bare feet in sandals in the snow and could talk with authority on any subject under the sun but unfortunately as the night wore on, would get troublesome and argumentative. He still, head and shoulders, physically and mentally, towered over everyone.

Hey Julie

Went out for a meal in Warwick with Edward Woodward and his wife Michele Doltrice. Had a brilliant night Michele talked about making the Frank Spencer series and Edward was doing accents. We talked boats as he had one in Devonport.
People stared openly and I found it to be quite unnerving.
but HTMBO loved it.

Ollie

He is really missed in Guernsey. A really great bloke and yes he would get argumentative towards the end of the night but if you knew how to take it then it was more fun than a problem.

Peter O toole used to visit him over here regularly and one night after a party in which they were debating a subject most heavily Ollie decided that at 3am Peter (who was his guest) should leave with the rest of us.

Trouble is we had all gone when Ollie managed to eject Peter from his house so with no where to go he went round to the next door neighbours and woke them up " Hi I am Peter O Toole tou dont know me but my good freind Oliver and I have had an slight disagreement and he has locked me out, you couldnt let me have a room for the night untill he comes round to his sences could you."

Just imagine waking up at 3am and having a film star at your doorstep asking for a room. Oh what fun he had telling us all about it next time he was over.

Re: Is fame All It\'s Cracked Up To Be?

I used to do press photography, so I've met loads.
Nicest bloke I've ever met (well person actually) was David Essex.
One you'd want to take home - Johnny Morris.
One you'd want to leave at all costs - can't remember her name, was it Angela Dawson? - Dirty Den's wife.
Most surprisingly pleasant - Princess Anne.
Most difficult - some French footballer bloke - can't remember his name either.

Prince Andrew,

Was expecting a 'right royal pain in the ass' but turned out to be the nicest chap you could meet. Can tell really good jokes and had no airs or graces about him.

Worst celeb I ever met was a particular well known footballers wife, a total pratt of the highest order and full of her own importance, she really thought of herself as royalty and had that kind of attitude of 'do you know who I am little man?' . Thick as two short planks and can hardly string a sentence together but unfortunately as rich as they come so had a load of hangers on around her.

Played golf with nigel mansell, just me and him for 18 holes!

It was awesome - he takes it seriously but he does play off 0.
