If this is East Anglia 3 then that is due East of Great Yarmouth - why bring the power ashore at Bawdsey?

I've just a consultation doc through my door for the Hornsea wind farm power cable from Dong Energy. Apparently the power cable will come ashore near Weybourne and pass about 1/2 mile fro my house on its way to a substation near Norwich.
Coincidently I was a guest of Dong and had a trip round the Gunfleet wind farm on one of their boats during construction.
Very interesting. Posted some pics on here at the time.
("Guest of Dong" does sound a bit weird though )

Exactly what I am wondering. Bringing the power to Bawdsey does not seem like a direct route...
