Oilies for ladies

Re: Oilies for ladies and rules

I'm sorry to bring up the old multi/mono thing; but using the heads is a pretty straightforward experience on a cat. I know we pitch a bit but a 5 degree maximum angle of heel does help.

Actually I think the stress free use of the heads accounts for a good percentage of my wife and daughters catamaran preference?!

Was going to give this thread a miss. Too tempting for the guys to fantasize about women in loos! But have succombed, so here goes, FWIW

I have both designs, having bought the 'ladies style' salopettes first. Then bought the Musto Offshore oilies with multiple layers which are a bit warmer. Luckily in the Moody, the aft loo is quite comfortable in a rough sea. I undress and try to take my comfort breaks at the end of my watch, or at the beginning.

My big worry is keeping warm enough. The loo has never been any problem. We run 4 hour watches through the night, and I always know when the 4 hours off-watch is coming to an end as that is when my feet are beginning to warm up /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

The other problem is the sheer weight of everything when it is on. I got into my middle layer salopettes and jacket, then hauled on the outer salopettes, by which time I will be beginning to feel sick if there is any sea running. Then on goes the jacket with lifejacket attached. One night I fell across the saloon table with the weight and an unexpected lurch of the boat. Ended up on the leeward saloon berth in an undignified heap. HWMBO never knew. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Tx Becky, was also a bit reticent about starting the post, afraid of the jokey /blokey thing, but was impressed by the replies from the guys. Also suffer seasickness in lumpy seas, so a vertical postion below can not be maintained for long. Nothing to do with grand prix peeing performance, just the need to pee without puke!

But skirts get in the way! When you're send forward in a force 6+, to do something you haven't completely understood the last thing you need are yards of wool flapping round ankles!
Plus, I don't think Musto do waterproof skirts

I have ladies salopettes, they unzip at the sides and a back flap comes down, with the front and shoulder straps still there under my jacket, they work too, in use through a rough 20 hours in the channel last summer, when I didnt manage to remove oilies at all, even during the couple of hours I slept! mine are from Henry LLoyd.
Best of luck, Chrissie

Oh!

Mind you this is one time when woman have it easier!! I hate wareing my Musto trousers becouse to have a pee "I" have to undress!! Jacket off straps off then pull the front down trying not to miss the bucket or heads! If you miss or the boat lurches you "can" pee over the inside of the trousers!!!!UMmmm
