Oil: VDS vs. VDS-2

Folks,
Engine manual states to use CDS-2 grade oil for the KAD300. My motorfactor's has VDS - What's the difference?

Volvo have dropped VDS2 now and specify VDS3 for all its diesel engines and some older petrols, I use it in my Mercruiser V8.
If the oil meets the VDS3 specification it doesn't matter whose name is on the can.

Hi Alt, sorry for slight drift - are you selling your boat...? As I recall you just got it, while "downsizing" from your last boat?

The boat looks fabulous inside and out and if my berth was slightly bigger this one would be on my shortlist. I like Cranchis and have spent some time helming a 41 Med. Good luck with the sale!
