oil reservoir bottles

The oil reservoir bottles on my Mercruiser 165 sterndrives are cracked and leaking oil. I know these bottles are a supplement for the drives to draw on but is it possible to use the engines while I wait for new ones?

Wipe them clean then smear a thick layer of epoxy resin on after, this should hold until you get the new ones.
