Oil Pressure

Hi all,

I have two KAD32P’s in great condition that run perfectly well, loads of grunt, lovely tickover and no smoke.

When I first start them up I get 60psi of oil pressure on both engines.

This stays the same throughout the run at different RPM until I throttle back completely.

Then the Oil Pressure drops to 30psi on both engines and stays at 30psi until I give them a little rev and they pop back up to 60psi.

Does this sounds right, I am guessing it is not ideal but happening on both gauges at exactly the same time seems weird too.

Could it be electrical?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Think you may well find 30psi on idle when hot is acceptable ?

You could also buy a cheap mechanical oil pressure kit from Ebay and test.

If you do nothing else change the oil and filters on regular basis, do it every year (ish) regardless of hours run.
Genuine VP in pretty boxes or visit your local motor factor where all the local self employed ,careful with their money, commercial drivers will go.
Buy a 25 litre drum of whatever is recommended and a couple of filters. The ultra fussy might want to see a VD number on the container, some of us have used oil with VD4 and seem to have survived .
Motor factors to the trade tend to be fussy about quality of filters they supply to their clientele stocking only well known brands, normally just buy whatever they are doing the best deal on.
Need to check if mineral is OK or the other stuff.?
Those engines will last forever, which is more than can be said about the :censored:
