oil polution effect on grp help?

Hi,Douglas Marina as had a major incident,after severe rain last night the power station was flooded and it poured about 50 tons of heavy diesel oil into the river,with the usual problems to wild life and other things,but can anybody tell what will happen to GRP hulls this thick black stuff is everywhere,will it eat at gelcoats????any talkback welcome yours graham...

Shouldn't harm your gelcoat, in the short term, but it's going to be a nasty job cleaning it. I would be looking to the power station to clean the hull, or at least pay for it to be done.
