I now this one has come up before but what oil should i be using for a yanmar 1gm10 raw water cooled in the uk.??

I know is should not be synthetic ??

Can i go to my local motor factors and buy it ??

What about standard oil for non turbo diesels form tescos ??

I found the post on oil filters and bought one today, just need the oil now ?

any oil with the min spec of C.C.
look on the can & read the specs.
the letter C. refers to diesel the second letter denotes the grade, the higher it is the better the quality the oil
dont by "branded" just check the spec on the can

I fully agree with Sailorman.
I have a 1GM10 and service it myself.
Use the cheapest oil available of the correct grade (same oil for the engine and gearbox), change the oil regularly and the engine will serve you well.

Because I like to sail not drive for 2+ hours to sail.

There are fantastic places to go in the Wash, and north Norfolk coast.

Wells, Brancaster, Thornham, Blakeney, Gt Ouse, Wainfleet haven, The Welland, Witham to mention a few.

A bit further afield is the Humber and East Yorkshire coast.

We can also head south past lowestoft if really wanted to be in crowded waters ??

My moorings are £150 in non tidal fresh water in a secure enclosure.

You can go out in the wash and sail all day and not see another boat.
