Well, of course an electric pump can make life easier.
But coming to think of it, your 3126 is very similar to my (and sunquest's) 3116. Oil capacity is also the same.
Now, I' can't recall if the manual pump is also the same, but I see no reason why they shouldn't have fitted on the 3126 a pump at least as good as in the 3116.
Mind, I'm not saying it's a great pump, not even worth considering an electric one.
But 8.5 hours is unreal!
By heart, I would have said that 1 hour per engine should be plenty, for draining.
And btw, if (as in my installation) the pumps are both on the internal side of the engine, you can actually use both at the same time, using both hands.
Are you sure they aren't partially obstructed, or anyway not working as they should for some reason?

Mario, the manual pumps are in place and easy to acces, I'm just not sure of their effectiveness. I have heard mixed views.

Disconnecting the manual pump pipe and using an electric one as sunquest mentioned surely makes life much easier.
But fwiw, I can confirm you that the time it took to you is way OTT, compared to how much it takes on my engines.
Hence my thought that there might be something wrong with your pumps...
Otoh, connecting an electric pump surely beats any 100% efficient manual pump, so if that's what you're thinking to do in the future, I reckon it's not even worth opening/checking/cleaning the manual thingies, regardless....

I used a Pela vac pump, drawing up through the dipstick, not the built in manual pumps. I think the problem with the Pela is the diameter of the hose.

Ops, I didn't get that.
So, you didn't even try the built-in pump?
You might well find that it's faster than the Pela thing, after all... :)
