I was 'reliably' informed that Makro's own brand is recycled, but didn't bother to read the specs as the extra $s for a proper brand was not enough to risk it.

I used to get asked to look at domestic gensets, usually Lister aircooled 'Start-o-matics'. One guy had a rented house and wanted me to service his, ' because he had been told it needed the exhaust cleaned out'. I asked when the oil was last changed ( 50hrs recommended). He was surprised and said he just topped it up when needed. Been in the house for over three years. A low guess would have been over 6,000.hrs without an oil change (the inside of the crankcase was 'interesting'). A tribute to Lister, bearing in mind they don't have filters, just strainers. BUT, it was in use every day. On a boat, the short periods of use are not conducive to long life.
