Here's a certain forumite spending a little time sampling the hospitality of SV2 yesterday.

Clue:
He kept his eyes closed for the next two hours as he can't bear the shame of being seen on a flybridge boat with those bloody shafty things - ugh.

[/ QUOTE ]Yes he's looking for a JOYSTICK. Doesn't know how to drive a boat with one of those wheel thingies. Glad SV you got him on a proper boat for a change instead of a bimbos giant sun lounge /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

PS: Told you yesterday was the day Mick! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I keep forgetting to get that fixed.
My seat's fine you see /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Phantom design fault imo as the flybridge seatrests double as hand holds and aren't really strong enough.

You can see how the weather around the British Isles is absolutely unsuitable for sports boats, no need for floating sun pads down our way
/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You rotten fecker!

Telling me all this time, "ah sure tis marvellous this flybridgy lark, wind in the hair" and all that malarky............

you can see from the expression on me face and words about to be uttered...... F F F F F F..... fer Feck S S S S S....sake this is bloody freezing!

Oh jeez give me a hard top sports cruiser any day /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif, push button, roof shuts and all toasty again and you can still see where your going.

You thought I'd be plastered and never know how fookin cold it was /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif (PS, do I look like a 70's disco diva or something? cus I have it now dangling from the ceiling and you know what?... it looks mighty attractive, Mrs N has Abba and saturday night fever on full monty and we're given it lots of hand on hip and finger pointing stuff /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Actually, only kidding, what a brilliant day out SVII is about the best of the FB's I have been on, those D12's are cooking on gas baby, she fair flew!.

Thanks SV and Mrs SV for a fab weekend, New Year like only the Irish can do, Mrs Nautical is still laughing her socks off!!

Portofino anytime Mick just pack the sun tan lotion /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Beauty of a dual helm FB in the British Isles Trev is you have the option to go inside on chilly days like that and enjoy all the wonderful internal space not taken up by giant external sun beds /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif And on nice days you can go up top, have a proper view with the wind in your hair. You need to visit Mr&Mrs SV during Ireland's tropical summer instead of Dec and Feb times /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I "absolutely" admire your resilliance at actually chilling out up on SVs FB /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Ah ha but wouldn't it be nice to have the wind in the hair feeling but not blown to bejesus /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif and when it does get chilly just push a button and close everything up, saves all that up and downy on ladders etc /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

SV is a brilliant piece of kit but unfortunatley I would never get Mrs Nautical up top on one, we did a flybridge tour of most of the manufacturers at SIBS and she didn't like it all, even with just a bit of swell around the pontoons the motion up top while standing made her feel a bit insecure and she wanted off asap.

Still, I can see the attraction, sort of extra space for a little more dosh but you need a swmbo who is committed either to being up there or sitting below on her own, even so you more than likely end up not speaking and disgruntled looks /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Hi Trev /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Just slagging.

I agree with some of your sentiments. We too used to have an FB , and we enjoyed it when the weather was fab, but I found myself alone up top much of the time as I helmed there "hail rain and snow" preferring the visibility. I hated driving inside with the poor view, but your right the exposure and motion got to us in the end. Now we have an aft cabin with a tent and one helm /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Now family comfy in cockpit, and we can eat there and even play monopoly! She suits our climate, and with the tent off it's a sort of semi fly, but with the tent up it's not too much of a green house in summer and "snug as a bug in a rug" when chilly (ie reason tents useless in med). The cockpit is not unlike the Absolute, just slightly higher up and no garage, instead electric davits with 30hp 4m rib. What I like about an aft upper helm layouts is the massive amount of internal cabin accomodation space yielded as a ratio to LOA. If we were in the med we'd want more external living space, rather than internal. I was quite impressed by the Absolutes, but for us would swap the garage/sunpad for an aft cabin in our damp chilly climate. Fab machines though, would be tempted if we boated somewhere warmer than SW and Derg.

"Horses for courses" as we say down our way and it's a matter of personal choice suiting ones cruising ground, climate and preferances. Diversity and colour is the making of humanity /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Was tempted to try med boating especially as few pals had moved their boating there, but they have since returned for a variety of reasons, but overall came back with comments like "the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence" and a "hatred of airports" and travelling to and fro. For us it's a pleasant 2hr drive to "the boat" which is based in a wonderland of boating mentally far from our daily normality. Climate on S and SE of UK seems a nice compromise with short hops across to CI and Froggie land available.

PS: Rarely much of a swell on the Irish sea, flat as a pancake much of the time and settles quickly after a blow, unlike the Atlantic W and SW rollar coaster. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
