What a day. I am down at Arklow harbour and have just heard of a dreadful journey which a 40ft yacht had yesterday. They were on route from Southampton to Arklow and apparently they hit trouble near The Tusker, yesterday morning. They lost their sail and capsized and the crew ended up in the water. Arklow lifeboat went to the rescue. The yacht and crew arrived in Arklow yesterday morning. The alarm was raised by a passing tanker. Thank god they were saved.

Yes thank god they are all safe and thank god for the RNLI. I cant help wondering though, did they not check the weather out first?, Cant imagine anyone in UK not hearing about the impending gales.

Working today along the west coast of Clare.

Sea was a cauldron of white froth. Cannot possibly understand why someone would take a chance with the forecast. (If in any doubt, stay put.)

Hello fellow Paddy,
I can imagine what the atlantic is like. I would,nt like to be berthing at Kilrush in this weather. With regard to the damaged yacht, how long do you reckon it took them to battle as far as Tuskar? I think they must have been even further N/W as it was Arklow RNLI to the rescue.

I would have thought that if they were coming from Lands End, that when the seas started mounting they would have run for The Haven at an early stage. (BUT I've no details, so I shouldn't really comment.)

Wave height this morning on the M1 buoy off the west coast is 8.7 metres and the wind is still maintaining a full scale assault from the west so its probably going to go higher.

Spent Saturday waiting for a ferry to Calais and all Saturday night trying to get back! Sea France cancelled some sailings but P&O got us back. The waves were coming over the uper deck and it was so rough they shut the bar.

But it was great fun for me!
