dictated by hlb...

Oh dear, we've just arrived unpacked, bought & fitted a new carpet, fridge full. Etc etc. Afer a 300 mile/5 hour journey.

Radar recently purchased to match the satelite & rest of the boats equipment at 500 pounds, now satelite has packed in.

Its a Raython raychart 600 xx, its about 10 yrs old, will this be ok to be connected to another make of satelite or does it need to be replaced by the same make/model to be compatible ???

Alternatively leaving the radar as a stand alone unit, presuming we buy new chartplotting, with future updating of radar & charts to both helms. I have raython ST 6000+
Autopilot so need something compatible. Please give suggestions for quick repairs or update options, pref. Without replacing every system on the boat. As we would like to be in Brittany a day or so... /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Dont know answer to your question but I know my Navman GPS works perfectly when my 1990's Microlodgic hand held GPS aerial is plugged into it.

As a get you away quick I would try any old GPS aerial and just plug it in.

Otherwise try submerging the connections in a glass of coke cola to clean them.

ST6000 takes Seatalk and NMEA, so anything, as suggested by everyone.

The raggie fruitcakes(me an all) seem to think the Lowrance 3500 is an absolute steal at the moment.
