Oh dear - another let down.....

Boulters Moorings

Hi,
The moorings at Boutlers are completely free and always will be. First come first served unless you have a flotilla that wants to book into the restaurnt or bar in which case we will try and hold some space for you.

Overnight not a problem if you wish.
Cheers

New owner of Boulters

Hi Paul.Been there done that

thanks for appearing on the forum.
Many boats on the Thames with owners who have actually got any proper money to spend probably have a boat which would need at least 5/6ft of water in order for them to come along side without fear of grounding.
Main concern is prop damage, boat lift out and prop repair could cost around £1000 quid (seriously) along with loss of boat use for a week or so,hence the what may appear to be superfusspot atittude to mooring.
It only takes a single rock/bike/trolley heaved in the night before, lurking below to ruin somebodies day and the resolution of any depth sounder will be totally unable to pick it out said object on the river bed.

Great news but can you tell us how deep the water is at your moorings?

FWIW and lacking any detail until someone lese comes in with detailed knowledge -

While we were waiting for the diver to disable the nearside sluice on Saturday, the lockie put a very nice (possibly deepish drafted) old timber cruiser up along where the manky old landing stage used to be. In addition a large Kris Kruisers hire boat went on to the new landing stage with no problems.

The restaurant looked busy from my vantage point on the neglected road side layby.

Not very specific but could possibly be of use??

Anybody got any recent experience of the Compleat Angler? my mother wants to go there for her birthday, shes always lived around the area and never been so its a sort of one off experience she wants to do. However the menu doesn't look very inspiring, OTT looks much better or even the new place at Boulters, i'm just worried that her ultimate experience might be a compleat let down.
Can anybody reccomend it? we're not going by boat.

Had a meal at Aubergine at New Year which is the other restaurant within The Compleat Angler (licenses the space from the hotel and is not run by the hotel) and is part of the same named Chelsea restaurant which has a michelin star. It was something else. Excellent food and extremely attentive but not over the top, service. Was not busy (only opened in November 08) and so was quite quiet but even that did not detract from the eating experience. Great location right next to the weir and weir pool. I would certainly go again for a special occasion.
