I've decided I can't be arsed with the "Official" game ... I'm going to stick to SOL and not even bother running a boat in the official game - this is having finished the SOL game, turning my attention to the cr4p one and finding that even turning your attention away from it for 1hour you go from 19kn with the kite up to 2.6kts .... all because I can't sail by the wind or have auto-sails without paying for it - bit odd that with a boat with 10 crew it is down to 1 individual to call all the shots - I assume they can't wipe their arses without my sayso - in which case we've got one load of smelly crew!!

So - there is a spare Volvo going in cape town .... 1 careful owner.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Make that 2 spare volvo's. One of them is in the middle of the atlantic somewhere if anyone wants to claim salvage.

I agree it's pretty useless, but I can't play SOL in working hours and get put in the doghouse if I play too much in home time. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Anyway, seeing Whitelighter IV heading merrily in the wrong direction on the official game got me thinking. Any one fancy a different destination for leg 2 on the Official site? I though about circumnavigating the Fastnet for example, but it doesn't appear to be marked, Alderney is though. Winner would be first to cross their own track after circling the island.

It might not work in practice, but appeals to my anarchic sense of humour to see a fleet heading somewhere totally unexpected....

When you say you can't play SOL in working hours - is that because of the client download limitation or generally can't use the computer for personal use at work....

I had been using that link as I couldn't run the downloaded client on my work laptop. If I go to this link at the moment it takes me to leg 1, will there be a new link for leg 2?
BTW Booby_Trapper failed to start on the official game.

There was a practice sail before leg 1, I'm assuming leg2 will also have a practice sail to give us all a chance to set delayed commands if we cannot be there for the start (like me!)

We'll put link details up here .... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Almost certainly as there is already one for the Augustimanem race.

Number 102 was the Inport race and 104 seems to be a Global Test Race but it is blank at the moment.

Moonfire will be retiring from the official race at Cape Town too - only 12 hour wind predictions, the charging for goodies and the inability to see most of the field has finished me off. Registered for sailonline as YBWMoonfire, now playing in the Med!

Finished the official this morning having lost 300 places overnight! Now in position 781 or something but having a glass of wine to celebrate. I might come and join you on the otherside?
I was unable to use sailonline before but can the 'on line' version and I find that I am still registered and am just leaving Alicante, don't wait for me! Still called bumblefish I will see if I can change it.
