This will probably generate a few more too.

If you don't agree with me, that is fine.
If you are not interested in what I post, that is fine.
If you don't like my way of saying something, that is fine.

In all the above cases, just go look at another post.

Otherwise on Forums which are for us all who have a common love and common interest in all things boaty, please keep your snide, offensive or sarcastic remarks to yourself. I can do all of those too - but not unless provoked.

If that too makes me sound like a Headmaster, know it all or whatever tough.

That is it, rant over, I've had enough, have a nice life, I'm out of here,/forums/images/icons/mad.gif

Point of order, Mr Speaker

If you don't agree with me, that is fine...

...In all the above cases, just go look at another post.

Now, you appear to be saying that if we disagree, we shouldn't enter into e-discussion with you. But that is much of the point of 'boarding'. Surely?

Love your tie, BTW.

If you did leave, I would consider that to be a very great shame and loss to us all....who can I argue with now? Sometimes communications can be misinterpreted because of the absence of vocal intonation and body language. I hope that is the case here .. otherwise a notification to Kim as to the post that's clearly offended you is in order .. hope it was'nt me!!

As your profile is blank except for your name which, may or may not be your real name, I am going to ignore this post

BTW in the UK there are 47722 people with Robin as their fist name, 542 with the surname Robin, 7027 with the surname Robins but only 4 Robin Robins.

Good luck guys, life is too short to listen to people who have no useful contribution to make other than to knock. I will take my own advice and read no more of this CRAP.

Below is a cut & paste of what just came through on the e-mail notifier but was obviously later edited on-line.

The above only is from Robin

If you start stupid threads in the first place you should expect a bit of flak. Stop being so pompous so have a serious word with yourself and take a pill.

And have a nice day yourself.

Would'nt worry too much about posts from those who choose to hide behind a mask of complete anoninimity .. their prerogative .. but what the hell there's too many good guys here to throw a wobbly over this partic post .. actually quite interesting looking at the history of that partic posters posts ..

Robin,

I think it is a real pity that you are taking this all too heart so much, especially as you seem to have the best intentions and alot of knowledge to share.

But, you have to remember that this is a public forum with a large number of members. The laws of averages must mean that amongst the membership there will be a "given" number of people who will get on your nerves.

Whilst Your original post had the best intentions I did wonder why you felt quiet so strongly about it. I mean if you really think you might be able to answers a persons questions but need to know more about their particular case why not say.

"Hi, Jim. I think I might be able to help you, but where are you and what do you sail in"

If you feel that you don't want to do that then just don't reply.

I am not trying to defend anyone, although some people may feel more comfortable/less embaressed if they keep a degree of anonymity.

I am also not trying to offend anyone.

As I said I think there will always be people who P**s you off. I get annoyed when a thread is started and then goes off at a tangent, having been hi-jacked by a load of psuedo scottish speakers.

But I wouldn't leave the forum because of it.

Chill out a little and don't let the buggers get you down.

It\'s your choice

I speak as one who walked in a huff from another board after a similar exchange. And I've not been back because I'd moved on from that particular environment which may still be flourishing for that group, as far as I know.

Latterly, I've come to the conclusion that as a virtual conversation medium, these kind of things are inevitable because we lack the visual cues that usually prevent us offending each other in the same way that I'm sure none of us would do if we met at the bar.

And would Jimi exist in the real world?

C'mon Robin

Life's too short. I did utter a 'groan' when you started the thread as it's been aired so many times. It always seems to end in tears.

Walk away if you really must, but I would regard this as an unnecessary act of surrender to a small minded minority. Much better to ignore it and continue to contribute to the many interesting debates.

You know it makes sense, and I for one would miss your contribution.

Cheers
Tom

ps - Forgot to mention, don't take any notice of little R's'oles!

Jeez - can't you just ignore them? Don't let stuff like that drive you away, it's surely not worth it.

Or, in an Eastenders stylee: Leave it, mate, it's not werf it.

Just to upset you further

Rival Spirit is nearly ready for a splash next Friday complete with new headlining, spinnaker track, steering gear and gleaming Autoprop. On the down side I now have no money left to sail her.

Mrs Enstone says I'm very handsome, so your taunts will get you nowhere.

Robin, my dear fellow, why so glum?

Rise above it, dear boy! Look on the bright side! Smile and the world smiles with you! It's just a little tiff, after all. Why not just kiss and make up? Louts and uncouth sorts are dreadfully rude to me all the time, you know. Between you and me, I think that foreign gentleman called Jimi wasn't being entirely polite when he addressed me in his own tongue, although, of course, I have no real means of knowing and I wouldn't dream of mentioning it to him. Quite uncalled for, all the same, don't you agree? But shall I let it get me down? Certainly not.

Chin up! Water off a duck's back! That's the spirit, dear boy!

Robin

I do apologise for that post. I actually posted it and then when I had thought about it I went back and deleted the whole post and tried to be a bit humorous. I obviously failed and I apologise. I did not think that it would get to you after I had had a rethink and an edit.
I was too flippant.
Sorry again.
All the best.

Hah! That's today's title is it? Hope you're not using our good fees to print a new set of business cards everytime your handle changes.

Stop feeling sorry for yourself, you know you enjoy a bit of stick and anyway you seem to have a good safety net of posters to defend you in extremis.
