Only the most loyal friends will wade through such badly formatted dense text in a poorly chosen font. There are oodles of yachting blogs showing how to do it properly.

It would be a shame if some rudimentary desk top publishing errors dissuade others from following your dream voyage.

Punctuation and use of paragraphs is terrible.....but who really gives a flying f###. funny read and good to hear Greenham Regis are still top bananas. Brent did the electronics refit on Deucy and did a top job. And Andy's a hoot to chat to. Never had a phone call lasting less than 10 minutes....ha ha. Regards your question about cheap internet and phone. Only suggestion i have is a) getsomeone drunk and nick their mobile phone (when abroad). They'll probably have insurance anyway etc etc. b) find a boat where you are moored with a sat dish on it. Be friendly get invited aboard and bring a bottle of cheap plonk. Get him (or her) talking about the boat and how on earth do they get internet etc. Let them explain and watch carefully when they type in the password. This is also theft. But...alot of boats in marinas have yearly subscriptions for their internet so its paid for and there for the taking already. Lastly...whats a paragraph?

Best free / cheap Internet calls = Skype

Easy to install, easy to use and if you get decent wifi good with web cam.

Enjoy the world.

Ps re blog: a few paragraphs would be easier on those of us that struggle to read large blocks of text.

I will be following your exploits, good luck;)

As for the blog, yes it could be improved but as long as the read is interesting, who cares. I'd ignore the overly critical types on here, most do anyway.;)

It's a blog. Meant to be read. So WTF not use the generally accepted form of writing?

I agree about using carriage return occasionally, it would make a big difference to readability. I've said the same to people writing long pieces on here in the past.

Font? What about the font? I clicked the link expecting to have to translate it back from webdings or something. I guess some people just make a hobby of being anti and strangely neurotic. :D

Here we go! I normally keep my head below the parapet because I found that posting a thread was like sitting the 11 plus. Just go for it Hipchick, I found your blog interesting perhaps because I was interested in the content rather than the the presentation. Keep it up but don't suggest writing a book or the forum Gestapo will get you!

It is a font used by in brochures to appear friendly and approachable when conveying short phrases. There are good reasons books and newspapers do not use such a font. The OP plainly has lots to say, so best he or she bows to the typesetting wisdom of the millions of other human beings who previously had lots to say.

Fascinating. In future I shall be sure to complain of difficulty reading lengthy texts in such a font, and perhaps symptomatic headaches and nausea.

well done

very good

you have a dream and are following it -

puts you ahead of most of us here

and you are doing it while still young

excellent on all counts

I do like a few snaps if you can squeeze them in as I am a man of a very limited imagination
