Off on hols

Yep still here at Milford, had a do nothing day today. Sampled some rev James but very badly poured at the harbourmasters bar, sounds like the jolly sailor could be the plan for tomorrow. We are still trying to decided whether to have an attempt to get to Kilmore Quay, I'm actually really enjoying MH, and the battery charger has made a large hole in my fuel budget. We are on G13 if anyone is about

Have a good holiday, hope the new bits on the boat all do their stuff and you come back with great memories and pictuires to share with us. Can recommend the Reverend James at The Jolly sailor. Its cellar cooled (no artificial beer coolers) to just the right temp, they take pride in the beer there (and the food).

On a spring tide you will dry on their pontoon at LW on a neap probably stay afloat.

Nice pic, can you arrange some weather like that for us too? Sat here under a leaking camper cover trying to keep the drips off the ipad

Taken loads of pics and will continue to do so. Tried to upload a video clip earlier but laptop Internet link wasn't too good and now SWMBO is on it. How's the festival?

Had a nice day to day, went up for lunch to Lowreny today, very pleasant, then went up river a bit further, anchored off the castle and did a bit of fishing. Of course you cant have a nice day without a disaster it seems, today's disaster - managed to knock my glasses off my head and straight overboard. Have to see if I can acquire one of those sea searcher magnets and pray the glasses have something ferric in them.

Hi Russell, we were around yesterday but could see the berth was empty, are you next to shesco? We are down the boat this afternoon probably around 3 ish. I have a sea search magnet that you can borrow. Its a handy bit ok kit. Managed to retrieve my glasses from the marina, as well as a chisel and other bits, unfortunately the one thing of the most value (wallet with cash in it) wasn't found and is still at the bottom of the marina! If you are out again today i will leave the magnet in the marina office. Ian.

Bit of a dilemma this morning, lock only working on free flow at Milford Marina due to a mechanical problem, booked to head out at 8.54, advised that a tanker was due to come in at 9:00 giving us a short window to get out. Disscussed a few possible options of what to do and at the last minute decided to go to Swansea. Good decision, what a cracking run down we had, St Govans head was kind, a little swelly but all from behind, even SWMBO enjoyed it.

No luck with the sea searcher but thanks Ian for the loan all the same. Straight to Vision Express ( well after pint and all you can eat Chinese ) to part with more vast amounts of money to get glasses replaced

Swansea marina is nicer than I recall, maybe cos its finished now, and to top it all just caught a 3.5 lb mullet off the back :-)

White Mischief ran superbly, looks like my temperature blip on the port engined seems to have gone away too, maybe replacing the battery charger fixed a dodgy earth? Be nice to think so.

HI Russell,

It was nice to meet you and your family on Sunday. Its a shame that you had no luck with the sea searcher but I expect that they are either under the mud now or more likely is that they have drifted around from where you dropped them, what a pain!

Glad you had a good trip back to Swansea, the locks at Milford can be a right pain at times. A friend told me today that apparently they eventually solved the gate problem by ramming a tug into it !!!

Hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip back to Portishead.

Best wishes
Ian

Thanks Ian good to meet you too. Hope you get your boaty aspirations sorted soon too. The glasses saga continues, the new lenses arrived on time this morning but with a whacking great scratch across them. Try again tomorrow.

I like the Milford lock solution, proper engineering :-)

Back now, had another rough ride back from Swansea yesterday. Family were warned and advised we should go back on Thursday, but no, the lure of shopping was too great and they would put up with a rough ride. And it was. Even taking the offshore route. Still at least I didn't have to listen to complaining. Did have to give the sidedecks an extra wash down we got back though.
