Just in case you need to amend your VHF licence, Ofcom are about to shut for a week! From their web site :sleeping:

"IMPORTANT CHANGES TO OUR LICENSING SYSTEM

Please be aware that Ofcom are in the process of upgrading their licensing systems. In order to complete this, we are planning to take our online licensing services down between 5pm on Wednesday 13 July and 9am Wednesday 20 July 2016. Should you need to access these services, please ensure you do so before this time.

Please note that our online broadcasting clearance tool SPECTRAsc will remain available, however our in-house licensing team will only be able to handle limited queries.

We apologies in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience during this time."

It is now the 23rd and the site is still down.

I emailed them a few days ago asking if they could send me my MMSI number but no response.

I don't see how it can take a week to upgrade what is a relatively simple system.

Not a big job.

1. Close for 24hours for data migration to new system (and to prevent new user applications which may be lost).

2a. Carry out pre-planned system tests to confirm all is OK.

3. System sign off by Project Board

4. Go-live

2b. Prepare to regress to old system as required if system issues identfied

5. Regress if necessary

6. Fix issues

Repeat from 2a.

Other tests (post-live) as applicable; eg 3rd Party Penetration testing and review
