Perusing availability of parts I may need to fix my 3YM20 I was looking at exhaust valves (119515-11110) .....
From USA $19.33
From Lithuania €15.84
From UK (or is it GB?) £70.33
Can anyone justify the differences or is it gouging by the British agent of, I assume, Japanese parts?
 
If he is in Tenerife why not buy from Lithuania?

I really don't understand the fixation with buying from Uk if you are in EU.

Problem with Lithuania is cost of postage on what i have sought so far. Secondly I have family in the UK who I can post to and they can forward on to me or I can collect when I visit. :cool:

I have never had anything posted from Lithuania.
I have found most things available here on Tenerife also found rare pieces required in Germany.
There are an awful lot of boats in EU ...seek and you will find...
 
I had a parallel issue, equally applicable to boats, with a car part. Eye-watering prices from UK suppliers - so I waited until I was in France and got it from Poland, cheap as chips and delivered in two days. Rip-off Britain is now beyond a joke.

The cost of transporting stuff to the parallel universe that the UK is in.
 
In the not too distant past it was possible to obtain ( inc P&P) parts from EU cheaper than to buy locally in UK.
This is no longer the case.
It also more complicated and onerous to sell stuff into the EU.
Wonder why .:)

There's more to life...move on ffs...
 
Raw water impeller Tenerife 45 euro, P4E UK 18 quid. Biggest problem is postage, anything coming through Madrid get stuck in customs, My lift pump arrived in Madrid 22nd July and I am still waiting, it is not lost the tracking status changed yesterday so I should get it next week. Even if you order from a Spanish website it can still come from Germany then same problem (Eg Autodoc.es). The UK post office in the past had a direct service to the Canaries and I have had deliveries within 5 days but my last delivery was subcontracted and that's the part I'm still waiting for.🤢

It's the way life is here ...letters sent from UK can take up to 5 weeks to arrive, but that's the way it is, no good dwelling on the past, accept this way or leave...
What's the difference between £18 plus postage and €45?
 
While I may have some sympathy for those who have chosen Tenerife I feel much more for those who live in parts of mainland GB and the adjacent islands who get penalised with extra delivery charges and in rare cases refusal to supply. As for purchasing from Lithuania - I recently bought a door shelf for our fridge. It was considerably cheaper than the prices listed by UK suppliers (who had no stock anyway), arrived within a week and without any customs hassle. If, indeed, I do need parts for the engine I have no qualms about ordering from Europe and, if necessary, I am lucky enough to have family abroad who will take delivery.
The question remains - how can it be justified to charge £70 for one poppet valve?
 
I'm all in favour of buying local when it makes sense, but I don't see the need to justify price differences on IDENTICAL parts.

Would you buy differently if you got the full song about the composition of overheads in different countries?

Just buy the things where the delivery time and overall cost fit your needs, expectations and philosophies (of any kind).
