I'm replacing the dash on my Phantom 46 and need to take off the steering wheel to get the old dash off. Now I've have had to destroy the steering wheel to remove it as it was alloy and badly corroded to the metal shaft so it was not a pretty sight .

Now I need a replacement...does anybody know who makes these wheels or where I can get one at a reasonable price. It's the wooden rimmed version with a black centre spoke thingy's!

Why does, what seems a straightfoward job, turn into an expensive nightmare!!!!!

Any help greatly appreciated

Hi Crazy
I dont know but:

1. If you want to use the Squadron wheel with gloss cherry and black leather, or the Sq58 flybr wheel in black leather/aluminium, ask Alice at EBY if she has them in stock. I left one of each off my new Sq58 there when I switched to the newer wheels, so she might give them at a good price. Ask her for one of John's wheels, off Sq58/201. She might have sold them by now

2. If you want to have the wheel currently fitted to the Sq78/65/55 it's made by an Italian firm whose name I've forgotten but Nick H knows it. Issigotti or something. If you want one of these with FL logo in leather in the centre they are £220 ish + VAT from EBY. Picture here

Post us some pics of the p46 when you get the chance

I think they are made by momo??

the retail price for the standard mahogany volvo penta wheel is £162 (part number 3843317)

Or maybe a Spargi Silver, like the Targa range?
I've got one of those, exactly the same but branded as Livorsi.
I was thinking to change it just for technical reasons specific to my boat - other than that, it's a very nice wheel.
If anyone's interested, just drop me a pm.

I have to say that i have no issue with the wood rim job on the lower helm, but having polished wood on the F/B is nuts IMHO. leather is better in this location.

I once took a wave and got quite wet on the F/B (completely my fault as was turning and simply forgot to watch the sea- wind over tide off Calshot! ) my hands were wet and the wheel too - it was almost impossible to steer as the whole lot was too slippery.

Steering Wheel

The picture is of a wheel made by the Italian company Isotta. Have just got one in white off ebay nearly new for £120.00 but search the world and a firm in Australia seem to come up cheap say £200. The RRP is somewhere around £ 300 - £400. They are top notch and well woth the money
