Thinking about buying above mentioned Swedish built OE36 from 1974. Anyone familiar with them?
Common old sailboat problems aside, is there anything specific to worry about?
I sail Olle Enderlein designed Shipman 28 now that is very nice boat but considering an upgrade

Many of the OEyachts were sold as kits for owner’s completion at home. The link below to the owners associasiation website gives the full story of the OE yachts (in Swedish). Hopefully you can run it through Google translate and extract some useful information.

Thank you for the link! I've already gathered as much information abou those boats as I could, most of it is in Swedish. Google translate can be funny sometimes but comparing to original text will usually make things clearer. This exact boat had been finished by the first(?) owner, then it was sold and new owner had started refit after sailing her for some time. It's been on the hard more than 10 years AFAIK. Hopefully I have stamina, skills, means etc to finish it. I have will for sure.

Hello Maestro !
I am following your steps : bought an OE 36 and welling to dive into boat project.
Where are you with renovation now ? How many days per year are you dedicating to the project ?

Hello!
Thank you for the interest! I wouldn't call myself a Maestro, though :)
Today is actually the 4th anniversary of my OE36 ownership. In 2021 we sailed her over the Baltic and hauled out.
Then I immediately removed the keel from the hull and rebedded it with new keel bolts (although the old ones were OK).
After that I started cleaning the interior from rotten plywood, flaking paint etc.
2022 summer I took 3 months off from the boat. Then I realized I must work harder and since then I've been spending almost every evening after office hours and most weekends on the boat. TBH, in summer I sail my other boat and work less on OE36 compared to winter time. I haven't kept records but I estimate about 2500 hours into the boat so far during those 4 years. I am no boatbuilder nor carpenter, so this is a lot of learning process for me. And I enjoy it.
Today I am nearly finished with the interior - completing the nav table and drawers, a piece of cabin sole and headliner in the main saloon remain to be completed.
I've built about 80% of interior (including bulkheads) and remaining 20% have been refurbished.
All new tanks for fuel, fresh water, waste are in place. New cooker and fridge, too. And new Sole engine. I hope to finish interior this year, then there is a lot to be done outside - painting the hull, finishing the decks etc. And of course elctricity, plumbing. And rigging. So, years to come won't be boring :)
Oh, I almost forgot - It took about 2...3 months to extend the cabin of the boat - making plugs / molds / parts etc.

Thanks for replying,
2500 hours that’s 312 working days of 8 hours. 🎩

I somewhat found your posts on different forums.
Such a beautiful work you are doing. Real inspiration.

I got my lady here with all good intentions of the world and now I am having that deep - very deep - breathing when I think realistically.
The scary giggles in my chest.

From far I can imagine, you are my best inspiration, and you have tons of amazing experience related to this specific model.

would you like to talk sometimes by email or video chat ?

hoops I can not edit earlier message: I should've not asked for email/chat. Ignore that part please and accept my apologies.

Hej
Hope it’s going forward !
Do you mind sharing how you’ve dealed with lower hull area between the mast and keel ? I am very curious to know how you did for water draining -from mast potentially to the keel.
I am opening the Pandora soon aïe aïe
