Towing home lighters from Greenhithe to Rochester possibly in the Swatchway. Early 1970s.
Could have been loaded with anything but most probably paper pulp.
Each lighter could carry 200 tons.
800 tons in total pulled by 500 Hp tug.
Some bright spark thought that putting this on 20 lorries ,all driving past peoples front doors was the future .

I went to school on the Thames in the sixties and spent over forty years at sea. A lot of it coastal UK
