October Med Cruise - lots of pics - Part 3 - Might need some help with this one

Pollensa is on the north eastern corner of Mallorca.
We were circumnavigating Mallorca clockwise so our next port of call should have been Alcudia.
But we were so keen to get to the little calas on the south of the island that we decided to give is a miss.

As I said in an earlier post, I didnt bring my recorded track home from the boat and I cant remember the names of most of the places that we stopped.

I do remember that we overnightes in Port Colom

And I think this is Porto Cristo on the way to Colom

But there were so many that I really cant remember where they were or what their names are.
So help is needed - I'll label each photo and you can all have a guess at where it was taken.
I think I've got them in chronological order and we did go round clockwise.
Perhaps there are some local or "hardened" Mallorca cruisers amongst you who know the places well enough to help.

Love the photos.

You were lucky with the weather.

Last week I delivered a boat from Marbella to Barcelona and conditions were ghastly along the route. We had 30+ knots and a 2m beam sea just off the lagoon by your home port.

Weather not too good this week either in the Balearics I hear.

P3 is approaching (where that rock is) the entrance to Cala Serena or whatever it's called, the 3 calas just E of entrance to Cala D'Or

Hi Mike. Great pics and I can confirm that you were lucky with the weather. It's a bit pot luck in late October. We've had a week of unbroken 30deg sunshine one year and rain 'n wind the next but the water is always still warm at this time of year. jfm is spot on about where the forum majorca meet took place this July in Colom (my head still hurts!) and you are correct that the last unnumbered pic is the anchorage just off Porto Christo marina. Anyway ref the other photos, some are tricky but I'll do my best and I'm happy to be flamed by anyone who knows the area better

I'm glad you were'nt listening to the VHF whilst we were out there.

Warlock called me (I think it was when we were in Cala Mondrego - P20) and said that there was "Dangerous Bar".
I immediatly panicked, thought of something like "Chichester Bar" and start looking round apprehensively.
It was allright though - He was referring to the bar on the beach!!!

Another great post, those bays/coves look fantastic...I'm very jealous, I shall have to have a look at my charts and see if I can find something similar in my stomping ground.

Interesting to see the different designs of the traditional fishing boats compared to the boats here, do you know why they have such a long extension from the stern?

I don't know Cala Barcas. Thats another good thing about Balearics cruising. There are few bars or shallows to worry about and generally the anchorages have plenty of water up to the shoreline. The water is also clear in most places so you can see what you're dropping your anchor on. During high season, many of the anchorages that you visited are absolutely stuffed with boats and you have to get there early to get a spot. There seem to be an increasing number of charter yachts, most of which come out of Palma, so the anchorages nearer Palma get very busy. For example, I've never managed to anchor in Cala Pi and yet you had it to yourselves. It's out of season trips like yours where you get lucky with the weather, the anchorages are empty and the marinas have space that make putting a boat in the Med all worthwile

It doesn't surprise me. As I say, Cala Pi is a very popular anchorage and perhaps because it's so tight, by the end of the season, the bottom gets churned up and doesn't hold well. The accepted technique in Cala Pi is to take a stern line to one of the rocks and that will take some load off the anchor. I think in places like that where you can't put out any great length of chain you rely as much on the weight of the anchor and chain as on the holding power of the anchor

Both the boats and all the bays look fantastic, really nice to get some images after hearing about the trip.

The blonde in the video looks cool on the back of 'Warlock' too. I guess she'll be looking forward to arriving down there next summer.

Well done Deleted User for filling in the memory loss of the ol' 'urricane. I know how it feels though Mike, I can hardly remember any of the names from the Malta return trip either.
