Hopefully the weather will hold to allow a planned 5 day trip on the boat (Antares 30 this time) with the kids.

Not done much boat with both sprigs so looking for some child friendly suggestions around the Solent (activities really - I know the harbours etc). I was hoping we might make Weymouth on day one and work back. Not aware if much in Poole etc but then I've never really looked.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

We will be in Weymouth on the new boat, lots to do not sure how old your kids are but sealife tower to go up if you feel like it, bowling and pool if the weather is pants at the bowling alley, sharky's on the harbour front soft play area with café and go karts on top floor, ciniworld, arcades should be open.

donkey rides on the sea front (if still there in oct) trampolines, large 2 man swing thingies, nothe fort to look around use water taxi across the harbour then its a 3 minute walk,

All the town is pedestrianized so nice and safe to walk round with the kids. all this is within walking distance of the harbour.

land train from sealife tower takes you to lodmoore where the sealife centre is, petrol go karts large wavey slide, mini golf 9 holes, crazy golf, play areas nice pub with good food buffet style at night different themes each day inc burger night Chinese, Fish and chips etc etc

hope this helps

Thanks Shawn,

That's the kind if stuff. Went to sharkies in 2010 so I'm glad it was still there.

Will definitely aim for Weymouth if the weather looks good. Ifs it's very good might even try for brixham and do Weymouth on the way back.

Portsmouth/Gosport is good for a couple of days if the weather turns bad - submarine museum, explosion museum, Victory/Mary Rose/Warrior, spinnaker tower, sealife centre or even on up to Port Solent for a night for the cinema

Agreed. Go and sit on the mud in Ryde, which is itself kid friendly, and take the hovercraft over to southsea and follow the bricks in the pavement to gunwharf.
From sparks you can catch the little train for much of the journey to the funfair.

For a full day out on the Island with the kids then Black Gang Chine. We've had days there as enjoyable as Disney's Magic Kingdom, and no queues. Bus from anywhere to Newport then hourly service to Black Gang. £20 for a family day rover ticket (buy on the first bus you get on). About £40 admission.

You can even take the dog (if you have one, or borrow one, the owner won't mind!).
