I'm hoping to be able to use the October half term (last week in the month) to get in a last warm weather charter before the onset of winter.

Since it's only for a week, I don't really want to go too far afield (rules out the Carib and Far East) so the med looks the best bet.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a week away in a warm spot at the end of October?

We took a boat from Bodrum to Marmaris that week last year & it was wonderful. We're chartering a boat from Kos this year in the hope that it will be as good.

Agree that Bodrum/Marmaris would be a good bet, but flights seem to be a problem. At present I'm struggling to find any at all.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I'd sort flight first, and charter later. There are fewer airline seats that week than boats to charter. Presumably you'll use latesail to search for a charter.

Both Bodrum and Dalaman airports are OK. Alternatively if do what we're doing and get a boat from Kos, I'll share a crate of beer with you!

Hi there,

Malta is pretty pleasant in october, temperature of around 25 C. The islands are OK for cruising if a little small, but there are good passages to sicily, tunisia & panterlaria.

Usually lots of charter flights

Winds are generally OK at this time of year, but can occasionaly blow pretty hard for 2-3 days from the NW/NE.

Have a good time

We went to ionian last oct. Charter flights from sunsail will run to end of half term usually, and sea was warm. End-of season and quiet but attractive in its sort of broken greek way.

Don\'t come to the Greek Islands

LAst year at that time it blew a gale for three days out of the seven, most of the tavernas had closed for the winter AND it gets dark early.

Besides, we owners like to use our own boats then so we try to keep the customers away.

Kiriacoulis & Easyjet - a great combination ( but don't tell everyone!)

Hi,

I went to Athens last year and had a great week sailing around the Islands. Sure, we can a couple of coolish days but the water was warm and the anchorages weren't too badly crowded.

We used www.cross-eagle.gr and were well looked after. I am going back to the same place with the same company this October and taking my ageing parents. Mind you, we are doing the sensible thing and chartering a cat so whatever the weather we sail upright. :)

Regards

Always enjoys an Indian Summer during October half term. It's light until at least 22:00hrs and the warm and gentle breezes caress heather clad hillsides. Because we are nearing the equinox, the aforementioned breeze kicks in at 11:10 each day and blows steadily until 17:00 hrs - F3-4. The rain all fell in the summer months and so it is dry.
Hope this helps
