Ocqueteau Tilapia 6.50m

Quite an interesting design, i take it the mainsail furls around the mast topperesque. would be an excellent little creek hopper. I like it.

My french isn't up to much but is it twin lifting keel?

Hmm, not sure about this one, I'd stick with your enquiry about the first 211 - more popular boat and greater resale potentail would swing it for me.
Not sure how this one would go to windward either

Well obviously "Voiles et voiliers" liked the boat as it was their"coup de coeur" in 2007 in the 5.5/8m coastal cruisers.
the report did say that the boat had to be craned in and that 2 people were needed for the mast raising but after that the pleasure started.
I think it has twin long keels and of course twin rudders.
quite expensive ,listed at 26000 euro.
interesting

They build them fairly close to me and I had a look at the first one at the Grand Pavois (la Rochelle boat show) Which, by the way, is on from the 23 to 28 this month. I will be there on Thurs.
Thought it was a lot of money for a rather crudely finished boat. The keels are steel plate bilge type, fixed. There was no companion way hatch and the interior fit was just the bunk cushins, nothing else in the cabin. The sail is rolled round the carbon mast with a rope to a pulley fixed to the mast. Simple, but I wonder about sail shape and cut. Same concerns as roller reefing headsails. If any body is interested I will look again and report back. But I thought a used Beni 21 or similar would be a far better deal for much less money. What was on V&V's mind with their ' Coup de Coeur' might have been influenced by what they were smoking that day...
Cutting a bit of slack, it might have been rushed to the show (bin in that situation years ago) and could have improved by now. But the basic concept would not get me interested as it is for 'first timers' and would quickly run out of fun for anybody who wanted to cruise anywhere.

OK, I just looked a bit more closely at the pics on the site. The interior fit is slightly more 'comprehensive' than when I saw it. Still basic. The twin rudders are probably more a fashion accessory than useful, though it does allow the O/B to sit in the middle. At the price, there are loads of good boats around. In their favour, they make some useful motor boats. This is not a good time to sell something like this into an overloaded market.

Cute, but it doesn't seem to have a cover for the companionway. At 1400kg, it must have some substance to it, but I wouldn't fancy it in any sort of swell. (You were asking about sailing in NE Scotland, weren't you??)

Stick to more mainstream IMHO.

You could get a Hunter Horizon / Duette / Sonata, Leisure 23, Newbridge Venturer etc. for half the cost of that one, or less (assuming they were the sort of thing you wanted :) )

To give you an idea of what's available This site lists most brokerage boats and is relatively easy to filter for specific features.

There's also a handy archive of boat data here.

Andy,

NE Scotland, I do like the Beneteau 21X range. I was looking through the 'net at bilge & lift keels and stumbled across this craft.
