Ocean Village, Southampton.

Hmm! There is not much there. At least not in the immediate vicinity.

There's Chiquito, a Mexican-like chain of restaurants. Ok, but nothing special. I think the nearby pub (Admiral Lucius Curtis) serves food, but not eaten there.

There's the Royal Southampton YC. Food reasonably good, from memory, but I'm otherwise not a fan.

So, I think that leaves the Pitcher and Piano (again, part of a chain and really more of a glorified wine bar that happens to serve food) and Banana Wharf. I've not eaten in the Ocean Village one, but Banana Wharf at Port Hamble is pretty good. That would be my choice, unless you were willing to walk into Southampton proper.

Can't think of any others, although I haven't been for two years.

I like Pitcher and Piano there food is pretty decent and good selection of drinks. has the best view of the marina too.

If you want something a little more upmarket maybe walk along Canute road to Grande Cafe. (old dock gate 4) and you are by Oxford street which has lots of decent resturants on. its about 5 mins walk ocean village to Grande Cafe.

stay away tonight as Southampton are playing and it will be very busy!

There's a whole host of restaurants in Oxford Street which is about a five minute walk away; my own favourite is Kuti's Brasserie which serves excellent Indian food if you are a fan.

No problems with football crowds around the marina area but No.1 son who cycled down from the university said the atmosphere in town was a bit tense.
Kuti's was excellent and about £30 per head for two courses, coffee and quite a lot to drink!

keep this thread going please.. recently moved the boat there and am looking for the same advice... just about filled one of the cards for Banana Wharf eating the seaford linguini (yummy) so will eat there a few more times to get a £100 meal for £50 once the card's full but definitely looking for a change soon. Do like a curry so will head that way up Oxford St I reckon

Oxford Street is a short walk from OV and has some decent resturants.

Oxfords is always worth a try,

Scoozi's is supposed to be ok although not been there myself.

Kuti's is a good traditional curry house. been a few years since i have been
there but im told its still great.

Poppadom Express was great last time i was there.

Pizza express (same the world over)

Olive tree, not sure if its still there but wasnt that great last time i was there, at least 12 months ago

Grand Cafe (old dock gate 4) had our work christmas party there this year and was very good. not been outside of an event for a while but have been a few times and always good.

all within easy walking distance of OV.

thanks Howard, we'll have to do a Zippy, Spotty and oG dinner sometime soon.

Walk to the far end of Oxford St and Raj's Indian restaurant is way better than any other Indian restaurant. Not quick as everything is cooked to order but definitely the best I've found outside India. As others have said a wide range of other types long Oxford St. Oxfords is good but quite pricy. Mr Chans nice Chinese. Good beer in the Grapes and London Inn is fun "alternative" entertainment later in the evening
