Terrific achievement of which you should feel mighty proud.

The brilliant video shows what can be done with a lot of hard work. You all looked so happy, including the boat! I bet she never thought she was going to do that again! You must be mighty proud of your achievement.

Splendid video history, and excellent editing technique to juxtapose the "sailing" clips" against the "rebuild" ones.

Wow, a really fine effort. Loved watching the sailing. How fast were you going off the wind,? Looked quite quick in the apparent conditions?

Having failed abysmally to rebuild one tired old wooden boat myself years and years ago,I know just how much you have put into this..the results are fantastic and she looks like she sails so beautifully as well.
may you have lots more brilliant voyages in her.Well done!

Hey thanks everyone for your really kind comments, making the video was much harder than rebuilding the boat, just a bit quicker !

In answer to how fast we were going, the shots from the bowsprit were done in about a BF3/4, on a pure reach, with just the main up, and we were doing around 5/6 knots. On some of the later shots, looking aft, we were making 6 1/2 to 7 knots. Top speed to date is 7 1/2 knots in flat water, with full main and one jib. I don't think she go much faster as she was making a quarter wave.
On the way back from Looe we were broad reaching in a top 5, with the mizzen set on the fore mast (about 350sq ft) and romping through the surf at a steady 6 knots. I think she will take any amount of sail you put up, its just having the strength to get it up, sheet it in, and get it down again ! Still feeling our way......

Nick, I'm so pleased for you. Can't see the video cos have rubbish computer at work, but I'm sure she's lovely.

Thought you'd be pleased to know that Dayspring is also sailing and in Plymouth. Had a horrendous trip down with the weather, but she handled it beautifully. Gonna be down here for a year, if you're ever about, drop in. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
